Hello guys, I mistakely tried to repair my media center edition with xp professional edition which was not succeded. Now if i turn my laptop on, it shows nothing just a blank page after booting and displaying manufacture's logo. I also tried to re install the same cd and the new cd as well, but after few steps of installation i get the blue screen of problem which says, "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer" and couldn't proceed. so anybody has got any idea how can i get access back to my laptop... thanx in advance...

not really a pro..but from what i can make out, think you'll need to format your HD ..before running a new installation..don't think a simple recovery will do..or could be the HD itslef went bad.. since it starts up, displays the logo and what not and then stops..which is when it starts to access the HD to load the OS up, i am guessing whateva it is, it's got sth to do with ur HD. but again..not a pro..

Abinn, boot ur computer with OS CD you have. for that go to bios set up and give 1st priority to boot ur computer from cd rom. then u can format ur computer from there. But I think as you install (fresh copy not upgrade) ur OS it automatically format ur hard disk. Not sure about this but worth a try because the worst thing it could do is delete ur old file, but you are loosing your old files anyway. good luck

Abinn Do you have original CD or recovery CD with you. If you have boot (Recovery CD) on expert mode and format your hard drive than make clean installation. If you have OEM CD or DVD then change boot sequence to boot from CD first and format your computer and clean install. If you failed both methods then download fedora Linux (download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/10/Live/i686/F10-i686-Live.iso) and burn as bootable CD. It automatically loads in your pc then you can format your hard disk. After fedora installation, either you can make dual boot installing windows on free space or you can override it installing windows.

Hello Abinn, well, you can download the ptdd bootable super f disk from the link below http://www.ptdd.com/manual2.htm and burn it in a cd as an .iso image and then boot ur laptop with this cd which will help you to format ur hard disk. After the hard disk is formatted you can install fresh copy of operating system. Try this; m pretty sure; it helps you...
