Congratulations to the boys!
Nepal stuns South Africans (2 runs win) and enters into the final of the Plate Championship of U-19 Cricket World Cup 2006 being held in Sri Lanka. They will face New Zealanders in the final. Good Luck fellows!!!

Hurray and wtf, take it easy guys. Though it is a plate championship (competition between losers in your words), it is heartening to see our guys working hard and trying to display their best. Teams like New Zealand and South Africa have also failed to make it to the super league and now playing in the plate championship.

Remember, it has not been long since Nepal started playing cricket, 10 years may be? But look how they have emerged as a competitive team in this short span of time. They have proven themselves to be the champion of Asia by clinching the Asian U-19 championship title three times in a row and now they are doing great business in the WC as well. Nepal could have easily paved their way to the super league (competition between winnners), had they not lost the close match against Zimbabwe (defeated by 2 runs). Not to forget here that Nepal is pitted against some of the world class test playing nations like England, South Africa and Zimbabwe, and winning the match against South Africa that too in a crunch game like semi-final is certainly worth an applause.

Also consider the political turmoil Nepal is undergoing through and the level of infrastructure that we have for sports in our country. Against all those odds, Nepalese youth team has proven themselves and I am proud of them.

Not to forget, the contribution of the Sri Lankan coach Roy Dias. He has shaped this team really well during his tenure as a coach so far. Hats off to the gentleman and kudos to our young team. Go boys go!! We are with you.
