While engagement and holiday weekends becomes a wow-wow with fellow collaboratives on a major debate we intend to discuss sometime in coming years. Anyhow, the subject of money comes around and we all agreed on how this can affect people in general.

In regards to marriage (we're all single except for some partner), we had to comment and even laugh at how people (hypothetically) say that money ISN'T a big issue. They say love is the key?... well, I feel and have seen most women could easily fall in love with money first, than anything. I may not speak for all female Sajhaities, but, money DOES change & "buy" people REGARDLESS of ethnicity, age, and social standing.

Money is important not just because I am greedy or materialistic (ok, maybe a little). now, most of the folks are going to get all defensive and talk about how money is not somthing they care about. bs!.

Now, there may be few, very few, for whom money really is not important. However, before you respond, think about the life you've imagined for yourself. does include separate cars for you and your partner, a home, vacations on a regular basis, ability to dine out on occassion? I thought so.

Once, I know this is probably a dead horse, but, seriously folks (especially the ladies)... what is your take?... and for the sake of this topic, be honest. Same for the guys...

And This one for folks, who have already been settled and planning to settle in The USA in comming days:

Number 1 reason for divorce: disputes over money/finances. For some reason, dating couples often don't want to talk about money before marriage--too taboo or too uncomfortable,
[Heck no! Second date, Open up! ( if you really like each other)]

Later, they find out too late about each other's spending habits, saving habits (or nonsaving, for that matter), cummulative debt, actual salaries, etc. Generally, people live way beyond their means (i.e., they dirve the fancy car, but they have $20,000 in credit-card debt).

A woman may decide to settle down with a guy based on, among other things, his salary because it gives her a sense of security. She feels confident that, along with her salary, that they'll be able to afford a house, kids, vacations, etc.

Unfortunately, I have heard from enough Nepali women that money (i.e., how much the guy makes) is an important factor in their decision to date and marry a guy. Sadly, some guys will get passed over because they don't drive the BMW or Porchse, own a house and make a six-figure salary.

Of course, I also know plenty of women for whom money is not a major factor in marriage. However, they, perhaps, don't want to be with some lazy bum who can't even provide for himself.

For me, personally, I just need to know that the girl whom I marry willing to work hard {Make your money work } that the two of us are able to provide for our needs not very xtravaganza without going into huge debt or being a burden to others.

Having seen the ugly side of materialism and greed in lot of folk's relationship, I'd much rather be with someone who can live with less and be content than someone who is constantly driven to attain more stuff and status (you can't take it with you).

Tell you what................ If I can take money when I die.... I would be baddest mofo and ruthless... I wouldn't hesitate to kill, rob, steal, whateva to make that money.... I would accumulate so much money.... BILL GATES would be ashamed in front of me.....
Since I was born with nothing.... I know I will be leaving with nothing but memories, education, experience things that most people don't value..... because most people want to weight eachother up in comparision with money....

Money never made a man............. Man made money... so in my opinion it is foolish to run after money...... More money more problems..... less money no headache.....

Namaste

Ok, I am growing tired of this topic.

Of course money is IMPORTANT in a marriage, both for men and women. And may I add that most men who complain that women want them for money are usually louts who are too lazy to create a comfortable life for the family. And it is this incapacity and insecurity that projects itself as an accusation on women! Admit it! If a guy is confident that he can make money and raise a family, then there is absolutely NO need for this topic. And nowadays, with dual earning families, this topic is just passe. Women also earn and contribute to the family income. I don't think any of us were born yesterday and enter a marriage starry eyed.

Bottomline: Love is a chance event. Money is practicality. Everything else is compromise that most marriages are built on! And THAT is the reality.

In peace.
