I own one website/blog about photography. Most of you already know that. And I have recently changed domain name. Now I am planning to promote it using facebook fan pages. I have one idea suggested by one of the Sajha users and that is to invite people (specially if you are interested in photography) to become fan on facebook page and announce gift card for fans or any gift card or accessories or book from Amazon or ebay or any online store (Inside US) and pay using paypal for visitors outside US. More you bring friends on facebook fan page, more qualify you will be. Photographers will get new tips and gifts and others will also get gifts.

Now you may be thinking why this guy wants to promote a blog. Simple answer is I also make money through affiliate partners and visitors. It's win win for both. More visitors I get, more affilate programs I will get and more benefits to fans also.

Please share your opinion about it. I don't want to start without doing simple research. Please respond YES or NO with your short comment.

You have got nice blog there. I read about you on your site and was wondering how tech guy turned into photographer. But anyway your idea is nice and goodluck for that.

but putting word out and advertising wuldn't hurt...
i think what u can do is.. set up a fix budget and instead of giving gift cards randomly.. put up a trivia question, or maybe a photoshoot challange.. or just start a discussion... and from within the participants.. choose a winner..
