Not only are all the answers funny, the most funniest is the question itself. Are you serious Daum? what do you mean by good and reasonably priced? its too vague to merit an answer. And you guys answer ain't helping him/her as well. Every company has a Low- end to high-end laptops to reach maximum demographics . A company itself isn't a bad lap-top manufacturer. here are some tips to consider: a)Your definition of a good laptop: A laptop is good if it fulfills your need.Find out what you use your laptop for. Regardless of whats inside, a good aesthetic will always be admired on a hindsight. Just human nature.Macs look good to me but they are no better than other companies in terms of functionality, and they are absurdly expensive. If you enjoy that commercial where a cool mac guy makes fun of a pc guy, then you are more than welcome to contribute to its advertising campaigns. bottom line here: differentiate between low-end vs high-ends.Identify your needs and buy accordingly. Since its a laptop, there are few things to keep in mind which may or may not be important to you. a) Weight of laptop :If you carry your laptop a lot, and the only exercise you get in a day is chopping khasi ko masu ( I was almost tempted to say masturbation hehe) , then you might want lighter ones. But they might be a little more expensive compared to the heavier ones with same specification. Its just like when sugar-free cookies are more expensive than regular cookies. b) heat/noise generated by laptop is also of concern. If you gonna put you top on the lap ( ok not funny), it better run cool otherwise, your boys wont be able to swim happily with the girls down the road , they say.Heat is mostly generated by the cpu( processor), gpu(video card), power supply and the hard drive. Hence proper air circulation is important. Hence the size of the fan, quality of the fan, quality of heatsink for the processor, gpu makes all the difference. High end models( with higher pricing) from brand name companies use better quality parts than low-end models. NOISE is also important, at least to me.I had a friend who had a gateway laptop that gave out a sound like it was gonna fly when turned on. The noise mostly comes from hard-drive, power supply unit, and the fans used and the quality of these parts used make the difference. aight, peace!!

eyefusion, I have to disagree on the Macs. You get your money's worth when you buy a Mac. Seriously, people have so many misconceptions of Macs! PCs are great. They offer all you need, but you don't know what you're missing until you get a Mac.

I would go for IBM-Thinkpad.... If you think the prices are high, you can get those refurbished one and they also perform best too. Am using one of them, paid $700[Rseries-->1.7GHz/1GB RAM/60GB/Optical Disks etc]

i just bought this toshiba laptop three months ago, it's great. I am asking $1049 for it. It has two years comprehensive warranty (not the manufacturer's warranty) from Compusa which covers pretty much everything about the laptop. the specs are as follows. CPU: 1.73 GHz core duo RAM: 1024 MB Harddrive: 120 GB Optical drive: DVD supermulti drive reads and writes 12 formats Bridge media adapter for SD, memory stick and other memory cards. OS : windows vista home premium. wireless ready bought it along with the extended warrenty for over $1200 with tax. The laptop is in great condition. I also have desktop parts for sell.

hey raazstone, your deal is funny, dude . either you don't know present laptop market or there is something else. as far as i know you can get with all those specifications not more than 700-800 $$$. but if you don't choose duo core or u get 512 mb RAM then you will get under 600 i am pretty sure.

seriously bored? If so, why don't you tell us why macs are great. I know you've been saying Macs are great, but you've never showed us "WHY" they are great compared to other brand names computer. I am in no way mocking you, I just want to know if you know something that I don't know Also, lets not confuse computer hardware with the operating system software because it seems to me that when people talk about pc, they are mostly talking about the microsoft windows operating system software. But personal computer is just that, a personal computer. Its made up of hardwares controlled by softwares. Bottom line: Dont buy a laptop just based on the operating system. You can always switch between operating systems and hell, you can even run one or the other on the opposite environment. Btw, the operating system Apple uses for Macs is largely based on open source Unix operating system. Of course, they have customized it, and I am not saying they are not good. But its rubbish to think that Macs have no security hole. Nothing is 100% secure.

i think i have heard it all. i agree with EYEFUSION 100% as far as security, nothing is sure! lets be real guys, think about it, things are able to run with minor defects and you not knowing about the defects....so YES it can have a security issue!!! dhosta - man have u been living under a rock???? toshiba the cheapest brand?? PUHHH-LEEEESSSEEEEEE man!!! eyefusion - ur post from yesterday was definately funny....leave it to u to talk .... masturbation, sugar free cookies, khasi ko masu and excersize in the same post referring to the topic PURCHASING A LAPTOP and get ur point accross...only U can do such a thing!! raazstone - he is looking for a NEW LAPTOP not a PRE-OWNED porn storage unit and where do u get off thinking ANYONE is gonna pay $1049.00 USED...u can go to ebay find what u have and get free ALREADY PURCHASED AND INSTALLED software for half of that price...are u nutz or have u lost ur everloving mind??? btw.....most if not every laptop is "wireless ready" as u call it!!! if they aren't what's the use of a "laptop" they are referred to as a portable device for a reason dude. if ur looking for a good laptop and ur able to spend the money, i wouldn't go MAC and i definately would NEVER go toshiba.... SONY VAIO is the way to go if not, IBM THINKPAD is a great little machine. It's lightweight for those of you who are not body builders, and its capabilities are amazing!!! gateway sucks, they are big, bulky and like EYEFUSION says...it's like they are gonna fly away when u fire them up. god forbid u install anything other then what gateway supplied you with, it will crash!!! as far as HP goes....damn those suck as well!! i think every company has their own nitch in its life cycle....HP's nitch is definately not a laptop or a desktop, their's is a printer!!!! HP is cheap, a peice of crap, the mouse gets stuck and u can't move it, i have to slam my work laptop daily so the mouse will work. SONY VAIO, now we're talking!!!! im not buying an IBM as i dont need it. i have a VAIO, it seriously rocks best of luck!!!
