Every time they do a roll call, I'm anxious how will my professor pronounce my name this time. He would be in full speed calling out Anderson, Blake, Carter, etc and all of a sudden there is an uneasy pause and my name is called out. Each time the pronunciation is different. But, honest to goodness, my middle school Principal's last name is "Dickoff" and people with out hesitation call him out, but to this day, I can't look Richard straight into his eyes and call him Dick. I'll make sure to name my children with fewer syllable as possible.

I'm Happy with my Name! Even being from South East Asia, I had difficulty pronouncing South Indian names. The smart professors usually make a phonetic notation under the difficult names for the next roll call. I also do wonder how some of the last names are derived. Even some nepalese names are adjcetives, not proper noun. Remember, Johnny Dangerously, an Adverb!!!!

hahahaha kk-kk, I hear you .btw, I got same problem like yours.In my case, not only people out here but our very own nepalese people even can't pronounce my name properly and that really pisses me up.Whenever i meet new people, it will be hard time for me helping them pronounce my name .Sometime i wish my name is Rita, Gita ,Sita rather than my own name .

if u want a easy name.. how about changing your name to
First name "A"
last name "B"

so if anyone wants to call u they can say hey A... or hey mr B

so easy.. no one will have trouble pronouncing .. they will even remember your name as it is so unique and easy.
