No money is too little or too much to start a business. It just depends on the type of business. Definitely, one can own a wide variety of business with 45 k. But, it's not a lot of money.

At least a liquid capital of 100k is required to initiate a small franchise like subway. Although the franchise cost is much less(15k), there is no guarantee it starts making profit right away. It might not break even the first year, so there has to be extra money to pay your employees and pay for expenses.

If you guys r curious how much money I have, $5k

Texasranger@
Had Nepalese had mentality like me, perhaps most of then would be successful in the US. Had they not sent all money they earned back to Nepal n saved for a business in the US itself, had they not feared to risk money in business, had they been creative to own a profitable business for less, they would be successful business wise.

I agree with furke about saving however I believe building a house for parents, sending siblings or children to a better school is more important than saving money for a business to many.
