Dear friends, Has anybody requested their FBI report or police report from USA for Canadian Immigration? If so, how long does it take to arrive to you after you have submitted the fingerprints to the bureau at West Virginia? They say normally 12 to 13 weeks in the website but practically does it take that long? Why does it take so long? Is there any way to order it sooner because I need it in about 8 weeks because the deadline to send the police report with other documents is set to 120 days, which is approaching. Any kind of information is much appreciated. Thanks.

I am in the same boat. I sent my finger print to FBI, West Virgina on 15th April 2010. I have not heard anything yet. They have not charged my credit card either. I sent my documents without this report.

Hey jawan, Don't they (immigration officials) return back your documents if you do not send police report with your documents because it is one of the required documents?
I have my police report from Nepal but since I have stayed in the US for more than 1 year, they need one from here too, so much anxious what is gonna happen?
Does anybody know if you personally visit the West Virginia office, can they provide "no records found" letter? or anything to state no adverse records found? Plz help

I submitted my fingerprint on 4/5/2010 and they sent me the report on 5/20/2010 . So it took like 6 weeks for my request. I read somewhere that if put a deadline on the envelop and say something like "please expedite: Immigration proposes" they do process it faster. Not sure if that works , but I did it that way. Though I had my deadline as 5/12 , I got it a week later.

Hi there, FYI my experience is that I had applied for my FBI report a few years ago while in USA. And I remember my reports arrived in the mail within a month ( If I correctly remember, it was on the 3rd week I suppose). If you have submitted all the paperworks, fees, fingerprints etc. etc. in the correct manner you will receive it within a month unless you have had some issues in the past and your records are bad. If not, then cool down it will arrive in about a month. Have patience. Hope that helps.

I did the FBI report last year and if I remember correctly, it did not take more than 1 month to get the package back.

You can apply for the FBI/Police clearance report, 3 months before you send your initial application to Canada (CIO). I dont think you need to wait until they (canadian immigration) send you the 120 days deadline to collect paperworks.....................this reply might not apply for those who has already applied, but it can be helpful to other. Bank statement and medical report needs to be within that 120 days period.............. but ielts, tef, job experience letter + FBI Clearance can be issued earlier. Only make sure that IELTS/TEF is not older than 1 year and Police/FBI clearance report not older than 3 months before you send your initial application to CIO, Sydney. Good luck.

I will apply for Clearance report from FBI soon. This will be within 3 months and will be okay for me.
But I have a police report from Nepal which is older than 3.5 years. Would you please let me know whether I would need a fresh copy of it to apply for PR in Canada or I can use the older one?
Just for reference, I have never gone to Nepal after getting that report from Nepal police.
Thanks in advance...
