I am looking for ticket to Nepal. Can anyone please suggest which is the good flight to Nepal from USA (East coast)? How is Etihad and Qatar?

Previously, I tried various airlines which has pros and cons that I noticed..

Gulf Air: (Travelled twice)
Pros: Good price
Cons: Poor service specially from Baharain to KTM which is hectic for traveller from USA after long flight. Delays are kind of part of the flight schedule. Once the air-hostress was throwing bewerage cans, I didn't know that is called serving.

China Airlines (Travelled once)
Good for travellers from West coast of USA. But since I live in East coast, its not convenient for me.

Northwest / KLM (Travelled once)
Overall good and short transits but Expensive.

Did anyone tried Etihad or Qatar or Thai or Korean or Singapore airlines?

I had a flight with the SIngapore airlines while coming to the US from Nepal and they are amazing! Such a wonderful service. The ticket was actually with the North West, but wasshifted to Singapore Air after North West's connecting flight was delayed, which I missed.The service is excellent; it was moreover like personal service. Inflight entertainment was also equally good. The aircraft was clean and looked new. The food was, again, wonderful. Definetely, try Singapore Airlines. It's been a very long since I flew with them, butI believe whatever I experienced is still the case.They are one of the few airlines in the world that has receieved 5 starts on overall performance.Currently, they have a flight from East Coast (not sure how many cities) to Hong Kong andtheir Silk has a route from Hong Kong to KTM.All the best!

I travelled via Singapore airlines but I stayed there for 3 days for visit. The service was good and the flight was on time. But, it's a 22-hrs flight and it's little bit expensive. Again, the flight from Singapore to Kathmandu was expensive, so I took Thai airways, which isn't bad.

Any reliable agents to buy tickets?? Dose anyone know

To buy tickets, try Sky Pass Travels.I bought mine from them for a reasonable price and ever since have recommended manyfriends who bought theirs from there. yes etihad is awesome... only 4 hours transit to doha... best thing ever for nepal traveler from NYC

Even I thought Etihad should be good because of its connection and transit time. I thought this will be fastest airways to Nepal.
But no travel agent is offering me tickets to Nepal. I am not sure why these Nepali travel agencies in USA are not willing to sell Etihad tickets. Any thoughts? Is it really good or bad? All Nepali travel agencies in USA just offer Gulf tickets.

Does anyone know which travel agent in USA sell Etihad tickets?

Recently made a trip with Thai.

I was impressed despite their long non-stop flight from JFK to Bangkok and then another 18 hours in Bangkok.

Guess what we were travelling with two little kids.  So had to stay in  a hotel in a city.

Which was also not bad.  What can you expect---you are going home which is not in new jersey or tampa..

Anyways---upto Bangkok the ride was smooth specially the crew were good with kids and kids also found some friends and that 18 hours went away so fast.

Bangkok-KTM---this portion was tiring --may be we were still tired from the previous portion...But this portion was only about 4 hours.

While on the return the layover was not bad...was only 6 hours in Bangkok.  Spent some time in the airport which is huge and we had some fans also who took our pictures :) some chinese ladies...

All in all I would give them a thumbs up.

My suggestion is not to be too picky.  Just be confident.  You can't expect too much.  Gulf and Qatar is more popular among Nepalese travellers sepcially from Middle East portion.

I didn't go into details but you get the idea.  There are other sites as well for airline reviews...Just make the best use of google or yahoo or whichever search engines you use.

 

P.s. Please note that Hindu Meal is not the same as you get from US to Bangkok versus Bangkok to KTM sector.  Hindu Meal means vege meal if you are flying from US to Bangkok whereas it means non veg meal minus beef from Bangkok to KTM Sector.
