Guys to tell u the truth these people are piece of C*@p.......they are not here to help nepalese people on timely manner...i have heard so many complaint from many people about them but no one dare to speak.....but........today i just think it's too much.....we should think something about it. if it's not for us then we dun need them in this country anyway....it would be rather quicker sending passport or other document in nepal...rather than sending to this...bunch of jack ass!

I have renewed my passport twice already from Washington and both time I received the new passport in 6 business days. But it is also true that for my roommate's passport, it took more than a month to process. He nearly missed his flight to Nepal cause of that. Every time we used to call they would say it was mailed yesterday, so finally we called and told them that his flight was in three days and we still don't have passport. Luckily, the person who we talked that time was very nice to us and he told us the passport hasn't been issued yet, he will issue the passport, and send it to us via Express Mail. We received the tracking number within two hours and we received the passport next day, my friend left for Nepal the third day. It is very sad when people who are supposed to help us in this foreign land end up hurting us. I am sure if they want they can process the passports and help us in other manners in timely fashion but nevertheless that does not happen.

Its been about 2 months I sent my passport and have not received yet. Whenever I call, only answering machine picks up. And no call back yet. One time front desk piked up and I was told that I sent to wrong Counsulate, I should have sent to DC location insted of NY. I was unable to speak with someone other people there that time and left a message. Again no call back yet. Here is what they say in the Passport renew form: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nepali Passport is valid for Ten years from the date of issue. It is non-renewable; thereafter passport holders are required to apply for a new passport well within time before expiry, but not earlier than six months validity period. However, in case of accidental damage of the passport or use of all the pages meant for visa, one could apply for new passport any time. Please note the following and send application accordingly at either one of the following addresses: Embassy of Nepal 2131 Leroy Place, N. W. Washington, D. C. 20008. Tel: 202 667 4550 Fax: 202 667 5534 Consulate General of Nepal 820 Second Avenue, Suite 17 B New York, NY 10017. Tel. (212) 370 3988/89 Fax (212) 953 2038 Passport applicants from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut States have to apply in the Nepalese Consulate in New York. source: http://www.nepalembassyusa.org/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Now tell me what you guys understand reading above instruction. Does it say I can not send my passport to renew to NY location if I do not live in NY, NJ and CT?

I think Nepalese Embassy's customer service sucks big time. The new passport that I received was very poor in quality (the lamination on the first page with info and pictures was already coming off on the sides and if I open my passport fully, it would tear off more from the binding, which obviously made me say WTF) while it took them a freakin month or so to send it back to me. Bunch of idiots who can't do their work properly... Grrrrr!

Mr. August better be careful when travelling with a passport like that. If the homeland security thinks that the passport might have been fake you might end up in Guantanamo bay.

Exactly ratobhaley... I certainly wouldn't want that to happen. I am thinking about contacting the embassy and notify them of the problem. Let's see what they say.

I am 100% sure that they wouldn't release that information. And again, its Nepalese Embassy we are talking about here and I am not even sure if they keep a log of that nature.

I hate the Embassy..it only takes a few minutes to get a passport of get a visa but when I go there, they tell me to come back in 2 weeks.. WTF...one of the main guys there thinks he own's the embassy and show's off a lot. He even said something really rude to my dad a few years back about where he worked and something else, how dare him..thinks he's better than everyone.. grrrr...can't stand him
