Electrical engineering majors? Please help me solve these problems.

1) A current of 1400 A exits in a rectangular (0.6 * 9 cm) copper bus bar. The current is due to free electrons moving through the bus bar at an average velocity of v m/s. If the concentration of free electrons is 10^29 electrons/m^3 and if they are uniformly dispersed throughout the bus bar, then what is the average velocity of an electron?

2)How much energy is extracted from an electron as it flows through a 9V battery from the positive to the negative terminal?

I know these questions gotta be easy, because they are on the first chapter of my book.

You lazybone. Don't submit your homeworks. At least try something out and ask for opinions.

Let's see.

Current (I) = charge / time it takes to travel.

I=q/t

Length of the conductor = L = V*T (as velocity=L/T)

Say n=number of electrons/volume=10^29 electrons/m^3
e=charge of the electron
A=area of the bar (0.6 * 9 cm)

Then q=neAL= neAV*T
Then
I=q/t= neAV

Then V=I/neA.

Plug in the values.

Do some readings if you want to be an Engineer. Double check my equation, I wrote it in a haste.

Thanks a lot for posting!! I did do some reading before I attempted to solve the problems, however, I couldn't even think of anything. Now I'll try to solve the complete problem,

for second question it's easy energy is given by eV plug in the vaolue and u have the energy to convert into joule
1 electron volt = 1.60217646 × 10-19 joule
