Murder Most Royal
Saturday 1 October @ 23:10CET

Crown Prince Dipendra of Nepal ? ?Dippy? to his Eton chums ? had a difficult childhood by all accounts. His mother ruled him with a will of iron. Close friend Gautam Rana recalls: ?The crown Prince had very low self-esteem. His mother was always criticising him. She said she had to be strict with him, for one day he would be King. But she was a perfectionist ? she never let him be a child.? His father the King, an old Etonian himself, sent Dippy to the English public school Eton. Sixteen is a difficult age for any boy to be thrown into an alien environment, but Dippy used his karate skills to protect young Will Stonor from the school bullies, and the two were soon firm friends. It was at a drinks party at Stonor?s family home that Dippy was first introduced to Devyani Rana, the daughter of a Nepalese politician and an Indian Maharani, who immediately bewitched the sixth-former. He bombarded her with telephone calls ? to no avail. He knew even then that Devyani?s resistance was the least of his worries.

Devyani did not accept Dippy?s advances at first; but the pair became friends and, slowly, Devyani fell in love. The couple spent all their time together and surrounded themselves by people who told them what they wanted to hear ? that they would be allowed to marry, and that they would one day be King and Queen of Nepal.

In reality, Dippy?s mother had made it clear to her teenage son that he was already betrothed to a well-born Nepalese girl, Supriya Shah.

The conflict between the Queen and her disobedient son was confined to Palace whispers, until June 1st, 2001, when the Nepali Times made Dippy?s private shame public. The Queen, it said, was blocking the Crown Prince?s choice of bride. Dippy?s humiliation and anger festered until, that evening, dressed in military uniform and with weapons from the royal armoury, he burst into a family gathering and shot his father in the head. The attack was no outburst of drunken rage, but a premeditated attack ? the few royals who survived the massacre have since described the way in which Dippy fired at everyone, and then kicked the bodies to make sure they were dead, before shooting himself.

Now, of course, everyone admits that Dippy had always had a dark side. That he drank too much, drove too fast, and had an unhealthy obsession with guns. But no one could have predicted the events of that fateful night, or the turmoil into which the country would be thrown. The public didn?t know what to believe ? or rather, the last thing that they wanted to believe was the truth. A military coup, a Maoist attack ? any other explanation was preferable. How could they have lived with such a terrible killer in the midst and never have known? This documentary recounts the events, from massacre to royal funeral procession, and tells the story of a volatile personality who was pushed too far.

aru kura testi ho hera sathi bhai ho. How about having a lil poll.

What do you all think will happen at the end?? choose one!!

1) parase will kill rest of his family to grab the crown.

2) Gyane will get rid of Paras to protect the royal-hood and make his grand son king before his son.

3) Gyane and rest of the family will sell nepal and go in a remote island and live happily ever after.

4) Himani will give poison to parase.

5) none of the above.

There will be a problem if every minority group will start just using their own language. I am a minority and I have my own language. But there should be a common language for communication, business. Its does not matter what you speak with whom in what langauge. But atleast in public forum, it should be for commoners to understand.

Same with while dealing with foreigners. I find it very rude when a group start speaking in their language and there are people who do not understand that langugae.

Peace

highfly I know exactly what you mean. atleast be consistent in da public forum. Not that I'm braggin or actin as a snob but yeah its really hard for me to read when someone writes soemthin in hindi or so.....If I express my views on a public forum, I want everyone to read and understand it.

Hey how about this, lets talk to San da and divide this sajha into a regional forum where every regional community languages have their own place.:P:P

San da could you please divide the sajha and make:

www.bahunsajha.com
www.newarsajha.com
www.madisesajha.com
www.maithalisajha.com
www.gurungsajha.com
www.raisajha.com..... and so on

Aight enough of BS, now lets get back to the poll that I've post earlier

Nirman Bro:
Tero dai lai pani aafu jastai gaine bhanthanyachas ki kya ho mora ? Dholak Sarangi haru tai bajaudai gar hai...

Highfly:
Let's face it... We all understand Hindi and it being a regional language too, it is perfectly acceptable. I am quite sure Hindi is more widely understood in Nepal than English. So what's the fuss... It's just another language...

One possible scenario:

Army will throw in the towel and refuse to fight since the people are not behind their effort.
Monarchy will crumble, royal family will flee the country.
The parties will be too disorganized to fill the power vaccuum.
Maoists will step in declare Nepal a communist state.
US, UK, India and other international powers will be herya heryai.

meanwhile,

there will be minimal real effect on common people's life. So... things go on.

newlynew:

Most of the Nepalis may understand hindi. Still its a regional language. There are other reginonal languages. Then there will be the argument for the similar treatment of these langauges.

I didn't want to have personal attack on someone...and all I was doing was being reasonable...at least when you are well educated....But this thing is turning into personal attacks and illogically nonsense...and Chakre one thing to say to you:
I wasn't even talking with you, and I don't care what language u speak...But you sure don't know what a gentleman, or a WISE man should speak...
DON"T GET PERSONAL DUDES...

Gyanendra's Feb 1 move and his actions there after has proved that the Narayanhiti massacre was a cleverly orchestrated conspiracy to estabilish a brutally tyrannical regime in Nepal. Extermination of Birendra's family was the first step. People could not figure out the intensity of that tragedy and gave the inspired dictator more chances to consolidate his ambitions. Hence he has been able to take grip of the country. Now he is preparing to bring draconian laws so that no one can dare to speak against him and if anyone did, the laws would determine their fate. Still people are confused, still a partisan of the population bestows faith to the conspirator of the country. Isn't this a tragedy for our nation? When do we Nepalese realise that the country is falling in the hand of a cruel dictator? It seems some of us won't realise how big a problem we are facing before a large scale civil war, mass killings, and widespread atrocities leaves the country torn apart, making it irreparable. We are used to facing injustice with silence. Friends lets shut our mouth now and face the catastrophe of a brutal dictatorship in a couple of years time. Those who can't speak against injustice will have to face injustice one day. Time is running out, very fast and beyond our control.

PS There was one photo in kantipuronline.com today afternoon with Gyanendra, in army fatigue, signing autograph for the villagers. I couldn't save that photo instantly and to my surprise, they omitted the photo with a new one. Probably that was after the instruction of the palace press secretariat. If anyone in sajha has that photo saved, kindly post in this thread please.
