What are the disadvantages of buying air ticket from airlines directly online? Planned Flight is via Qatar Airways. Flying from DC.

nop it depends. I bought couple of ticket directly from airlines which was cheaper than buying from travel agency. Try http://www.fareboom.com/ for international fare. I always check in it this site before calling travel agency.

Ideally, buying form travel agent and directly from airlines ticket prices are similar but Travel agents gets commission from airlines. I do not see any advantage or disadvantage buying from either. If you find good deal just call an agent and ask their rates and their rates are higher ask them to match the online prices.

We started buying ticket online. Advantage is you can choose the flight schedule and short your flying time. Price wise it's not that much difference.
Agent will not give you choices.

If your travel agents aren't giving you choices, you're choosing wrong agents.

damik. typically purchasing flights off airways directly will be costlier. That's the reason why people get theirs via agents or other sites like google (matrix), skyscanner, cheapoair etc.
