Are we ready yet, will we change for better, is upto us, but bending rules is a two edged sword, and those who live by it die of it.

Dear rein, you can't be a democrat just because you strongly support certain political parties. You have to understand that parties and democracy are not synonyms. Democracy can exist even in the absence of parties, but parties can't exist openly in the absence of democracy.

Ashu, I concur that nepalese are violent by nature and ofcourse, most of the people on protest are uneducated. But I don't think they are ignorant at all. Even an uselesss trash would not accept to die for the fun of violence. They have been used ( misguided ?) many time as in rhitik roshan case. But I can't just ignore the number this time; hundreds of thousands of people. Defying curfew is not fun as burning tires, bunking class and pelting stones on police. Let all the inner bitter feelings we have vent through the sugarcoated nice interface we pose. People ( exploited by parties and neta?) has removed their mask. Let king show his gut feeling. Everyone is trying their best for their own interest. Let king defend himself. Let parties use all their means ( exploit people?). Thank god, I don't have to kill or die to achieve my goals. Guess what, I am privileged. Personally, I am a spectator. Game is on. Lots of fouls and arrogance. I am bored and want this game to end. I am getting excited about the next one. Hope that the game will be a fair one. if not i'll wait for the next one. I am tailgating.

'Democracy can exist even in the absence of parties' ...

Another nepalu ji, I agree with you in all u said except "Democray can exist without politcial parties". I believe poitical parties are at the heart of democratic system. To say that u can have democracy without poilitical parties is just like king Mahendra's saying "dalabihin panchayati system" I feel bad about being too harsh on Ashu. The thing that makes me bad about his articles/ posts is that he always protests agaisnt the parties. That is fine to me. Parties have committed many mistakes. They are not fully democratic. But he never speaks a word agaisnt the undemocratic acts of the king. If he is impartial, he should speak against the undemocratci moves of king also. Otherwise just repeating that he is "democrat" sounds too hollow to me. just teti kura ho. no bad feelings beyond that

Dear chakku, Yes, democracy can exist even in the absence of parties. Democracy, for me, is the way of thinking and doing things democratically.

Better fewer responsible parties than several parties with their own agenda before that of the Country and the Countrymen...Mind you, these parties can not exist together, and keep splitting the parties for their own fortune....Congress didn't split because Deuba wanted to do more for the Country than Girija, UML didn't split coz Makune was so people oriented over Bam Dev......They care for themselves....their fortune...their family's fortune...and leftover...IF there's any goes to the country !!

I agree to one point of urs, Karmarana. If king wants to do poilitics, he should leave the throne, form a poitical party, get majority and rule for 5 years. Why is he crying to rule for just 3 years?

Knightcrawler, This mass is not on the street to dethrone King and crown the party leader to rule their fate. As far as I understand, people want change where they have their voice heard , no matter how dim it is. They want due respect to the people's sovereignty. Not the "indifference shown in kings speech' and not the tag of "exploitable uneducated suburb youth". Don't blame me for being romantic. I am dreamer.

Dear chakku and rein, democracy won't die, even if there are no parties. You can still think and do things democratically. Democracy is a way of living, its not just about political parties, election, protests and so on.

To add more, democracy needs only democratic parties. One of the reasons for failing democracy in Nepal is that parties are not democratic themselves. Its ridiculous, these parties are demanding democracy when they don't know what it really is.
