nyone who is heavily into anything will be harmed by it. People addicted to coffee, people addicted to food and become obese and can't move, people addicted to work and therefore have no time for other endeavors such as raising theier kids, and so forth. If you take anything to the extreme it is gonna be harmful. On the other hand for the casual smoker the risks are nil. I would say that many people find inspiration when stoned that otherwise would not find. Musicians, painters, writers, there are logs of their use of weed and the ideas that got while stoned that otherwise would have never entered their minds. It is an gateway to a different line of thought (for people that are inclined to thinking, that is), and it is in no way a path to hard core drugs in the least.

The fact that it is illegal in many countries means shit, the fact that it is legal in others and stats prove that there hasn't been an increase in usage or in so-called weed_related_incidents (whatever it means) proves that legalising MJ would be the thing to do. It is readily available as it is, so what is the big deal? In some countries cops don't give a damn if you walk past them smoking joint, they know that it doesn't lead to violence and/or acts of vandalism. Unlike alcohol which when used irresponsibly almost always leads to violence and in many cases death. No matter what, if people want they will do it, restriction wont bring anything. So tax it. :D

Marijuana is NOT JUST RECREATIONAL DOPE, it is A LOT MORE. Recreational dope is just a variety of "Ganja" that has this better concentrations of the organic molecule tetrahydrocannabinol aka THC. This molecule is just a isomer of some combination of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen, just like sugar. It is not nitro- like other drugs. And ironically, this happened in the natural evolution in its quest to protect itself from UV-sunlight, just like ppl in Africa became black and those in Europe became white and ourselves became brown due to the chemical melanin which does the same thing of protecting from UV in our skins. So, criminalizing POT is blatant RACISM. There are other races of POT besides the recreational one.

As indicated in the article above by our beloved leader, the different races of POT PLANT are -

* Excellent fruiting plants. The grains from POT ("bhaang" in nepal and alike) are better in carbo- and protein and in overall, they stand BETTER than any other single grain variety. In this age of "manufactured food", if there is no racism involved, POT would have taken as the base ingredients of all cakes, breads and staple diets. This is no joke, but a simple MOCKERY, if you will. If you take in POT protein, you can rely on it. The amino acid structure of POT is such that you dont need any animal protein intake. Furthermore, POT oil is the best oil over any existing oil.

* Our party is distributing demo biscuits and cookies made of POT grains, but because POT grains are so expensive, you need to be party member to taste 'em. * Excellent Fibre source: Both in the grains as well as the plant itself. In anything that can be made of cellulose fibre, POT beats 'em all... whether against cotton for clothes or for paper products or whatever

* Excellent growers and carbon arresters: Traditional staple crops like paddy, corn are contributing A LOT for global warming, dudes, its not only the cars that are emitting greenhouse gases ! BUT, in contrast, POT is a very GREEN plant and it can arrest a lot of carbondioxide and turn into organic carbon (plant body) and release oxygen. The potential of POT as a greenhouse gas solution is IMMENSE.

* 85% cars run in alcohol (ethanol) in Brazil. POT grains and body are better yielding than wheat if they were to be fermented into alcohol.

*Unlike other drugs, there is NO lethal dose for POT. If you consume more and more, its effect plateaus and then drops, like an exponential function or saturation curve.

So, POT IS THE SINGLE BEST PLANT IN THE WORLD.

Shree...I'm not for marijuana, but I'm not against it either, as long as it doesn't concern me or someone I care for. If you want to smoke yourself into a cloud, go ahead, just do it away from me. I just get annoyed when people try the "It's not bad for you" line...it is bad for you, accept the facts. Just like smoking is bad for you and drinking and many other things. But saying "It's not bad for you" will not make it magically benign. That is what I was trying to address with my post.

I just dont like the government saying what to do and what not. If you dont like it then don't smoke it, and tell your friends not too. You say that weed is bad, I say thats my choice to decide what I put into my body. Thats why as mentioned above, let people decide what they want to do with their lives, so tax it. :D

Know what, cocaine is produced from THE SAME PLANT THAT COCA-COLA IS BASED ON. As I posted above, POT is not just recreational dope alone. Our party calls it "recreational pot" and not such as "weed" in a derogatory sense because as I wrote above, it is just an isomeric variant of organo-carbon (like glucose or sugar or alcohol). It does not have any nitrogen and there is no "lethal dose". Even alcohol has a lethal dose.

Our party also opposes abuse of drugs. We, the party cadres, also rarely use recreational dope, but that is simply organo carbon just like sugar, however, the fume is still bad.

The main activism our party is professing is there are other variants of POT and if we remove any racial prejudice against the POT plants, POT plant HAS ALL THE POTENTIAL TO SOLVE MOST OF THE PROBLEMS FACING THE POORER WORLD.

Shree, I get your point and also know that the reason marijuana is considered a gateway drug because it works on the same neural pathways as heroin. As a tolerance is developed for marijuana, SOME people turn to heroin to get the same effect. Read the book ("Marijuana: Harder than Thought", Ingrid Wickelgren, Science, June 1997)

Legalize "SOME" Drugs.
Regulate the heck out of them.
Tax them.
Don't pay for drugs with tax money.
Don't pay for forced rehab with tax money.
Don't pay for needles with tax money.

If parents don't want their kids doing drugs, that is up them. Responsibility for their kids lies on their shoulders. If an adult wants to do drugs, the responsibility lies on their own shoulders. Good luck to them finding medical insurance.

If you yourself are not under the influence of recreational pot, which is also a good thing at times, engineers are expected of a higher degree of rational thinking which is another good thing. But the picture here is more supportive of the racial discrimination against POT.

The racial discrimination means mainly two things:
1. Not all the variants of POT have high high concentrations of THC. This THC thing evolved into some variants of the plant as a natural answer to the UV-rays. I mean, in their effort to counteract the high concentrations of UV-light, some plants inherently came out to have more concentrations of THC. It is an isomeric configuration of C, H, and O atoms. It is analogous to why we human beings have skin color. The substance causing skin color in we humans in called something like melanin which has the same role and history in ourselves as does THC in pot. So, when you ban pot in grounds of THC, it is like banning ppl in terms of skin color. When they say "gaanja" is bad, its just like saying no black or brown skin or black hair is allowed. It, therefore, is a racism.

2. If you see the article by our leader above, there are so many citations from the history how it was utilized as a tool to act for racism. It came out as a tool to supress ethnic Chinese in Canada and ethnic blacks in USA. In USA, they dont allow inmates to vote even now, and it is the blacks who are mostly jailed for reasons of drug use.

while it may be true that recreational marijuana might make sex more enjoyable, any deliberate scientific study has not been documented so far. Maybe our party members who had had a hands-on should be able to provide some opinion though. I will sincerely work for you on this subject as far as practically possible. However, from a perspective of spiritual philosophy and based on popularly heard opinions, recreational pot might be able to launch one to the same or better state of ecstasy more often than a sexual act would do. Furthermore, I do not have personal account of any such experience.

As our leader recalled, once a group of scientist wanted to study the positive effects of the POT and they were denied funds a number times (9 times, if I recall properly). Then a memeber-scientiest, who also was an occassional enthusiast of recreational POT, suggested, "May be we should ask 'em to give us funds to study the BAD effects of POT", and know what, they were immediately flooded with dollars. FYI, the leader of our party himself is a prominent scientist. Anyway, this kind of political prejudice still exists. However, it is a good fact of matter that Canada is slowly, albeit hesistatingly, crawling towards the truth.

Criminalization of marijuana is a racist act.......Probably thats the way some ppl look at it but i dont buy that and i'm not elucidated to fight for the legalization of herb because of the analogy of THC and melanin..........but i think it should be legalized because its usefulness far outweighes its disadvantages..........there should be a balance for everything.......like the balance of the nature.....people started killing lions and tigers because they were a threat to human beings...now they're one of the endangered species and killing them is a crime......moreover marijuana doesnt kill people......we should respect it as we respect all the other nature's creations. if cigarettes and alcohol could be legalized then therez no reason why herb should not be.

they say the problem is in the drug and not in the percept and perception of folks. They have been doing this since ages to rule the sojha-sajha ppl. There are a lot of wild plants that are way more dangerous than this poor THC-high pot.

The point is, if allowed its right to exist, POT plant alone can solve almost all the problems of the poorer world like food, clothing, fuel, environmetal etc etc.

Regarding cigarettes, alcohol and recreational POT, the main factor is NOT INTOXICATING EFFECT, but rather it is the effect of hegemonial corporate politics. To make a cigarette or bring alcohol in a bottle, they can set up factories and productional facilities, in long and short of it, they can make money. However, enthusiasts of recreational POT can virtually home-make their joint. Were there a manufacturing process in recreational POT too, it would have been perfectly legal with fine prints like "statutory warning: Inhaling pot smoke 'might' be detrimental to your health".
