Marwari community wants their representation in interim parliament

Marwari community has also demanded their share in the forthcoming interim parliament, which is to be formed after the promulgation of interim constitution.

Speaking at the national convention of Nepal National Marwari Council, its acting chairman Atma Ram Murarka said that the community, too, has decided to enter into politics and demanded at least two seats for the community in the interim legislature.

Deputy Prime Minister Amik Sherchan, addressing the concluding session of the council, assured the representation of Marwari community in the interim parliament.

Marwari community is a leading business community of the country.

JTMM Bandh Paralyses Life in Eleven Terai Districts

The second day of three-day-long Terai Bandh called by Jay Krishna Goit-led Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) demanding an independent Terai state, has affected normal life in eleven districts of Terai region on Saturday.
Hundreds of passengers were stranded after the long and short route vehicles remained off the roads.
Factories, business houses, shops and academic institutions in all districts of the region shut down today.
In Lahan, activists of JTMM last night torched Jagadamba Paper Board Industries on charge of opening factory. Property worth Rs 2m damaged in the incident, Kamal Kishore Maru, owner of the industry said.
According to reports, Morang, Sunsari, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Saptari, Siraha, Udaypur, Bara, Parsa and Rautahat district remained closed today.
In Sunsari, Inaruwa, Itahari, Bhantabari, Laukahi and all other main bazaars were closed. Long route vehicles remained off the road while some short route vehicles plied.
Biratnagar and Urlabari of Morang district were also closed completely.
In Rautahat, the district headquarters Gaur and Chandranigahapur bazaar were closed completely while the district headquarters of Bara, Kalaiya, and Birgunj bazaar also remained closed.
