Hi all,
I am new to sajha. So, I don't know much about this website but my friend said me that it is a good place where Nepalese helps another Nepalese. I hope somebody will help me too.
I came USA before 3 years in F1 Visa. When I came here, my parents signed a loan with his relative and putting our home as a security. It was around 11 lakhs. My parents have a small shop in Kathmandu in the name of income. We don't have income of much. My father agreed to pay 2 lakhs every year. The person with whom we took loan was OK with that but before a week he came to our house and said that he is going abroad and so he need all his money back.. He threatened that he will use his force if we do not pay his money back. My father was very nervous. When he asked about the previous agreement, that guy said that it was urgent and he needs the money within 1 month. My parents are in big trouble. They asked for help with many people but everybody said that they don't have money. I sent them $1500 that I saved from summer for this semester but I know that won't work. I am working off-campus too leaving my classes all these days so that I can save some money and sent them later this month. I am not sure if I will be able to manage that much amount.
I have an iPhone that I bought before 1 year from eBay. If anybody wants to buy iPhone, can you please buy it from me? It is iPhone 3G 16GB Black Unlocked. It has no scratch on it. I will also give you the hard incase that I bought for 30 dollars from Amazon. I also have Samsung Gravity phone that I received when I got the phone from T-Mobile. I will sell this also if any body is interested. I am desperately looking for money. I hope somebody will help me. I have no choice other than selling the stuffs that I have so that I can send some money to my home to save my home.
My PayPal id is rajandhkari@yahoo.com
If you want to buy the iPhone can you please send the money in this account? It would be a great help for me.
Thanks

That is very unfortunate bro.......why dont your parents ask loan from the bank and you pay the bank everymonth or help in the payment? They can use the house or shop as a collateral ...just a suggestion.......and its not good for you to miss school and sell all your stuff if you get expelled your situation will only worsen. I know you care as everyone would for their parents....so.....My suggestion is tell your parents to go to a good bank and see if they can get a loan. ANd may be your parents know any rich guy that will laon them the money in promise that you will pay them back slowly........Hope this helps bro.

Thank You terobaaje for your suggestion. Unfortunately, the solution that you said didn't worked. My parents went to bank but they said they need something as a security. My parents have nothing beside a small shop. No rich people help "middle class" family. My parents tried everything and then said me about this problem. I don't like to miss the class but I have no other choice. Thanks for your suggestion. I really appreciate.

I am sorry to hear all these, bro. I will say same things as terobaaje, look for a bank and use the house as a colateral so that you can get atleast something for the bank. i exactly understand what your situation is b\coz i was in same situation a year back. it seemed like everything was falling apart but dont worry have a faith and patience things will work out. Tell you parents not to take any action in pressure ask them to be patience becauze i know patience works really good. As you have colateraled your house to your relative but not sold right, then you can try to use that house to get loan from different bank. i think you house should worth atleast 25 lakhs, so the bank will be ready to loan you atleast 10 lakhs for the house. I suggest you to be strong and be a pillar to you parents i know they are wearing down and are very nervous for the situation. Then to pay back i think the income made from your shop will be able to pay and you can send some from here too. You just need to have patience. I sure dude it works the only think is that you parents need to have a faith than crying for a help. Dont expect any relatives to help you because they will not. I dont know whether you heard this saying or not "Chan gedi sabai meri, chaina gedi aakhai tedi"
so instead of trying to ask for a help with relatives it wil be bette to make copiesof LALPURJA and MAP of your house and to visit rastriya and other private bank to get a loan. I hope this will help.
Lastly try not to sell anything right now as teerobaje said it will worsen your situation later and dont really skip school too because immigration is getting tough. Becareful.
Have patience and faith the way will be led.
Have a blessed day

Thank You for your reply Supernote. As I already mentioned in my first post, the guy with whom my parents took money took the paper of our house as a security. My father asked him the lalpurja so that he can take it to the bank coz bank asked the lalpurja before looking into this matter, but the guy said that he cannot give papers back to my father. He will give it only after my parents pay him. I just want to throw that guy his money but I am not able to. I am selling my iPhone because I can use some other cheap mobile for a monent. iPhone was only my want, not need. Thank You again.

i think you dad can go to MALPOT karyalay and get a copy of Map and i guess you had you document made when you were processing your visa and might had made a copy of lalpurja to auditi you propertie and income. you do not have to have lalpurja if your parents explain the situation and apply for the loan they might be able to help and they will handover the loan to the person with larlpurja and keep to themselves till you pay the loan. Tell your parents to ask him to give the photo copy of lalapurja stating your dad own that house and land on it.
If you look for the options you will see it, thinking about selling stuff you had is just like " hitting you leg with an axe" so thinking
There is a way to solve the problems, we have to look for it. Problems will ber big if you look for it but it will be nothing if you look for the solution. I am talking this things as per my experience in my case it was little harsh than your situation.
Tell them to get help from someone who can help and promise that person to pay some amount after the work is done. people will do things when they are promised to pay. instead of sending money now you can send that money to pay the person who helped you to overcome the problems. So leave you stuff as it is.
Have a blessed day

sorry to hear about your situation bro. i was also in the same boat earlier. I don't think selling ur stuffs will be enough to pay 11 lakh.. so, be patient and talk to ur parents. here is my situation:
when my parents took out student loan for me from the Everest Bank while sending me to US, our house was already in another collateral loan with other bank. Everest bank required my I-20 and photocopy of lalpurja and naxxa, and agreed to give us more money as education loan. That way my parents were able to pay off their old loan to the other bank and were able to save some extra money for me while i came to US. Then they got the original lalpurja from the old bank and put it in the new loan at the Everest bank as a guarantee as per the agreement and paperworks. so, there is a way banks can help you. Just ask your parents to speak fairly with the branch manager stating truly about their position and i'm sure a solution to this problem will come out eventually! Good Luck.
final advice: don't expect help from relatives, unless they r ur kins. friends certainly help, relatives don't. relatives just like to sit and watch and laugh at ur penury. & don't lose ur patience and keep faith in God, that's what i do in situations like this. about studies, try not skipping it, if possible. God Bless you and your family.

What about the terms of the old loan, a lender just cannot ask for the money when he needs it. Im sure your father signed a contract before getting the money. Check every word in the contract, and then he cant do shit if the yearly payments have been made,

rajandhkari, please check your paypal. I deposited $25.00 as a help from my side. Please don't take it negatively and accept it. I know how you must be feeling in this scenario. I was in same situation before few years when none of my relative helped my parents. We lost our "purkhauli khet" in our village. It was a bad moment. I know this amount will not solve your problem but I also know that drop of water can make ocean. I hope your porblem will be solved. Why don't you list the iPhone in eBay if you have decided to sell it? I would have bought it if I don't had one with me. Sorry for that. Best of Luck bro..

Bank matrai hoina,,aru pani 36% or 24% ma byas dine manche tannai chan Nepal ma....ahile iphone bechera timilai kati nai pharak parcha ra nepal ma. Kunai bank sanga kura milena bhane aru manche sanga bhayepani kura milauna prayas gara.
Arko kura...it is not LEGAL to loan people in Nepal....so he cannot really force sell your house. Try not to make your story more focused on selling iphone than the issue there is. All you need is to swap the loan with another person.

@ Khatechor, I don't know what to say. I never thought that you will take it in this sense. But thank you very much for the help. I really appreciate. I promise, I will return you this amount after this summer. Thank You very much for helping me.
@Supernote: Thanks for your e-mail. I am glad that there are some people who are willing to help me in this case.
Dear sajha friends, I am very very happy to receive such suggestions from you. I talked to my parents about this and they went to a bank yesterday but I don't know what the problem was, the bank manager rejected the application. Luckily, one of my uncle said my father that he will give him 2 lakhs. So, we need to manage around 4 lakhs more. I am trying my best to manage as much money as I can.I hope everything will work out. If I knew that my parents will face this situation because of my study in this country, I would have never came here.
I am thankful to sajha for all the suggestions that I received. Thank You everybody. Sorry that I couldn't reply all the day coz I was out looking for a job.
