Hello friends,
I am using wordpress to manage my blog. It's working great and I am happy with it's performance so far. Only thing I am concerned about is spamming. If I don't login to dashboard for couple days, spam comments reach upto 150. I have installed askimet for tracking it but I am wondering if there is any tool which prevent spamming rather than filtering.

If anyone knows that kind of plugin, please advise. I think it will have lots of query to the SQL and enhance the performance.

what is your blog's name? right place to ask such questions is wordpress website. I guess they have support / discussion forum for such issues .. right?

I tried searching on that keywords and they always talk about askimet plugin. I have to admit that I was lazy enough to create wordpress ID and ask a question. BTW I host my site somewhere else not in wordpress server. I just use wordpress framework so I don't have userid unless I create it. BTW my site is about photography. If you want you can visit here.

Try searching for "wordpress captcha"

captcha stops automated scripts and bots from posting spam. It should not be difficult to use the plugin.

Captcha was recently cracked and too many automated scripts,bots managed to get through it so i won't really depend on captcha until Newer version Shows up also do ask your hosting to updated PHP to latest available cause there was some PhP bug found last month which enables servers exploitations and enables redirections issues .

Best is find a plugin which gives you easy way to enable human question answer verification system where you can manually set questions and answers so it will be hard time for Automated scripts and bots to bypass through .

This plugin adds some fun, it shows 5 pictures and asks user to select at least 3
particular ones.
