I don't know the dollar limit that you can take with you to Nepal but I do have some experience of using my Bank of America checking card at Nabil Bank. They gave me the Nepal Rastra Bank's selling rate. The only fee that I had to pay was 3% charge from Bank of America. If you use ATM then there will be additional charge of $5 from Bank of America.

It really doesn't matter how much you take. No body gonna care that! When u take TC, if you have a bank account in Nepal they may limit the amount you change into Nepali currency every day, but no body cares unless it more some million/billion.

Try to take less than 10,000 otherwise you have to declare at the airport. I have been watching ABC’s Homeland Security reality show, on the show so many people tried to take out large sum of cash from US but got caught and faced felony. Just be careful dude, small mistakes make you pay big time.

People residing in Nepal are much more smarter than you in USA or abroad. If you have upgraded you cell phone and want to give somebody, they will not take it because of status quo and will be accepting ipod only. Similarly if you have 10 mega pixel camera , they would not accept it, because they are looking for DSLR only.

Think twice before buying a gift.तेसैले उपहार दिनु अगाडि आफ्नो खल्ती को बिचार भन्दा पनि उपहार लिनेको STATUS हेरेर मात्रै उपहार किन्नु र दिनु होला । Beware of Made in. Make sure the gift was is made in USA.हो, नेपाली माग्नेलाई खुद्रा पैसा दियो भने , नोट दिनुस यो खुद्रा लगेर कहाँ साटनु भन्ने जबाफ सुन्नु पर्छ।
