I am trying to get some data on the Nepalese population in the US. Is anyone aware of where I could find this data - for all of US and in various states.

Newa, Different numbers are thrown by different people/groups. Many use the number as well over 100K. But my guess is far lower than that. It is an important topic, especially at the light of Nepalis in America wanting their voice heard in Nepal and here, AND issues related to the rights of non-resident Nepalis. Since you raised the issue, may I ask you (or other readers) to define "Nepalis in America"? Who do we want to include/exclude? Before you dismiss this as a silly question, give it a thought. It could be more difficult than you think it is. Peace.

I don't think anyone is really interested as Nepali's will always be a minority. I'm aware there is around 2 million Nepali are outside of Nepal

The figure published by UNDP in 2003 was around 60 thousand legal nepalis in US. If we consider the recent rise in student as well as lottery winners and the nepalis who are no more in legal standing..i think the figure is close to 100k.

There is no data on the Nepalese population in the United States because the American census has not really conducted a research on us. If I had to guess, the number is probably in the vicinity of 30000. I am talking about American citizens and green-card holders, not H1B workers, who by the way are also legal.
