A professor of Nepali literature said, Shiva originated the idea of homosexuality! He went on, therefore, both Ganesh and Kumar have interesting birth history. Well, whatever the truth maybe, if there is one, it's an interesting take on the mythology of Hindus. What do you all think? Great News for gay guys!! I'm sure they'd love to hear that.

I think its your professor who's having a real hard time coming out...so he is concocting this whole religious "it's okey" crap. Ask him, why there is Yoni in every statue of siva linga?

What about bestiality, is that a Hindu invention also? I thought Al Gore invented bestiality. http://www.liveindia.com/khajuraho/b1.jpg

I guess Im not the kind of person who dismisses people just because they dont think like I do. I suppose one of the things why Hinduism has been around us for this long is that it allows people to inject and or project any interpretation onto it, which, in essence, I believe, has made it possible for Hindu Mythology (you may call it philosophy if you like) to keep people interested in it despite the fact that most stories, if followed closely (you need an extraordinary amount of patience to be able to follow them), lead people toward a path of confusion. Reason, they dont seem to make 2+2=4. Its kind of like string theory or quantum mechanics that seems to suggests that the world has 6 dimensions. But we can see only three and if stretched, maybe four. Well, by now, I have violated all possible theories of writing or analogy. But thats the point.

I'm not an expert on Hindu philosophy, but from what I know, Shiva and Shakti (his consort) are one and the same. They are the only two Gods (in the Trinity) who consort with one another and that is the basis for human sexual relations for procreation. Shiva has been referred to as an Androgyn (possessing both sexes) because of the union with Shakti whose qualities (including sexual organs) merge with his own. This is not surprising because that sense of oneness is what sexual union creates for both man and woman. So, I find this homosexuality business regarding Mahadev rather far fetched. I do agree that he is Androgynous though. Also, as TMA says, our Dhananjaya or Trikal maharaj can perhaps further enlighten us.
