Mutton shortage hits Kathmandu valley:

Many devotees facing a shortage of goats in Kathmandu, in the eighth day, Mahaasthami, of Dasain, reports said. Thousands of goats and other animals are sacrificed to the Goddess Durga on this day.

There is no adequate supply of goats and sheep in the market this year due to Maoist insurgency affecting the villages where the animals are reared. Many people could be seen in butcher's shops in Kathmandu and people were queuing at the goats market in Bagbagzar and Kalanki.

Police had to be deployed after crowds increased in the Kalanki Goat Market, the Area Police Office Kalimati told Nepalnews over phone. The price of mutton has been increased from 250 to 300 rupees per kilogram.

The government's supply agency Nepal Food Corporation has been distributing less number of goats and sheep than the previous years.

whats the difference between khasi and boka?
Bhunte Posted on 03-Oct-03 08:59 PM

Ruby,

Very relevant question for those who were borne and grown up in urban cities. I will attempt to difine what characterize Boka and khasi. Please bear me if it sounds pervert

BOKA:
Uncastrated, sexually active and potent
Smells goaty, bit filthy, peey
For religious purpose: Boka is acceptable for dieties for sacrifices

KHASI:
Castrated, docile
Doesnt smell goaty
Meat is tender and tasty

Yetti ho malai tha bha ko kura...ehehehe

The diffrence is the same between a married and an unmarried man.

Happy cheavon filled Dasain, because mutton shortage should be linked to sheeps and not goats.
Ruby Posted on 03-Oct-03 09:17 PM

i didnt know that castration would have such a big effect on the tenderness of the meat. i understand being sexually inactive, but not so much the tenderness. i mean meat is meat. but i beleive you. are they castrated at birth? poor things!

Ok, let us hope this Dasain helps us wipe out our evil thoughts, words and deeds, which pops out in our mind (like unwanted advertisement in our PC screen). Let us beg Durga mata to provide us the software to block those poping outs in our mind, and install them to get rid of them.

Aba wishes for Happy Tihar
